Nostalgic flashback straight from the spotlights

Hello everyone!

I’m writing about a record you’ve probably heard about, or at least you’ve heard of the band that recorded it. I’m talking about Abba and their record called Absolute Abba.

Abba is a Swedish band, which popularity began from the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. The name of the band consists of the first letters of its members names. They were Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Although the band is Swedish, they sing in English. Abba broke up in 1982.

The album contains their biggest hits over the years such as Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All and Mamma Mia. In total it has 24 songs on two separate discs. It was released in 1988 after the breaking up of the band.

The music is joyful dance music straight from the 70s and somehow it feels nostalgic, even though I didn’t live then of course. The music gives you good vibes although some of the songs are also pretty sad. They are still always very hopeful. The themes are pretty much love and happiness. Of course some of the songs include sadness and even some kind of anger, but I think that gives the album more variety and keeps the listener interested. I just couldn’t find any bad songs from the album.

The vocalists Agnetha and Anni-Frid are very talented and when they sing songs composed by Benny and Björn, the quality is guaranteed. I think the four fit perfectly together.

I give the album full 10/10!
