Nostalgia from the last decade

Released in December, 2015, A Head Full of Dreams is the seventh record of the British rock band Coldplay.

I found the record when my dad listened to it in the car and I found some of the songs catchy. The record is kind of nostalgic to me even though it hasn’t been that long since I used to listen to it. I still enjoy the music, though I listen to different bands and artists nowadays.

The songs have a melancholy feeling to them, although the melodies tend to be mostly in major. The lyrics of the songs don’t seem to have a consistent theme, but a couple of the songs share a common theme of letting go.

In all of the songs, the guitar is an essential part of the background. The different kinds of guitar sounds give some nice variance to it. The synthesizer has also been in most of the songs. A couple of the songs feature parts played on the piano as well. The piano parts are well written in my opinion. I also like the audible but not too distracting bass in the background. The bass and the beat aren’t basic and boring, but rather pretty interesting.

All in all, the record includes some amazing songs, the feeling of which is hard to replicate.
